Houston Farmers’ Market

Houston / Wet-zuhn-kwa

Wet-zuhn-kwa - The Na-Dene word for the Morice River, it describes the the bluish-green colour of the water.

The small market with a big heart.

Just off Highway 16 in the small town of Houston, BC sits the world’s largest fly fishing rod – and rightfully so, as Houston is the steelhead capital of Canada. Once a week, from June through September, that national landmark stands a little taller alongside the organizers of the Houston Farmers’ Market.

A dynamic mixture of fresh farm produce, local meats, crafts, baking and woodworking is available throughout the season in support of the market’s “Make It, Bake It, Grow It” mandate. Alongside the Bulkley River in Steelhead Park, this family-friendly market has become a community standard on warm summer evenings.

We respectfully acknowledge the unceded traditional territory of the Wet’suwet’en people, the traditional stewards of this land.
