Celista Hall Farmers’ Market

Celista / Selesta

Selesta - When a post office was to be established here in 1907 and the residents could not agree on a suitable name for it, the postal authorities suggested that it be named after Celesta Creek. Although this creek is many miles away, the name was adopted, but due to an error in reading handwriting, the name came out as "Celista". Celesta Creek is an anglicization of a well-known Secwepemc (Shushswap) ancestral name, Selesta.

A popular summer stop for visitors and locals of the North Shuswap.

Held next to the beautifully historic North Shuswap Community Hall, the Celista Hall Farmers’ Market sells fresh local produce, hot prepared food, artisan crafts, organic baked goods, and more every summer. Located right on the lakeshore, the market is a popular stop before a swim and picnic. Live music is often found onsite too, as is a food truck and concession stand.

Just off the main road, there is lots of room for parking and the farmers’ market is a highlight for many summer visitors. A Christmas market for the community is also held inside the hall every winter.

The Celista Hall Farmers Market acknowledges it operates on and benefits from the Traditional, Ancestral and Unceded Territory of the Secwepemcul’ecw Peoples.
